SMART KIDS ZONE

Terms and conditions

1. About the operator and service

Smart Kids Zone is operated under ZaQuest Ventures. Privacy and support contact: admin@smartkidszone.com. The website provides short lessons, quizzes, explanations, memory reinforcement and progress features for Years 1–6 and general 11+ practice. It does not replace school teaching, a complete curriculum, professional assessment or an official examination. Unless expressly stated, practice is independently authored and is not endorsed by an exam provider. No grade, school place or exam outcome is guaranteed.

2. Guests, parents and learners

Guests may use available free learning without registering. Temporary work may be lost and server quiz sessions expire. Saving eligible guest work requires an authorised parent account and selected child profile before the session expires. A parent or guardian who can lawfully manage the child's account registers the family and provides the family email. That adult manages memberships, settings, child usernames/passwords and permissions. Children cannot purchase, change billing or delete the family account. Separate child credentials allow siblings to learn at the same time. They must not be used to evade the purchased capacity. Parents can use Forgot password to request a link to the registered family email. Support can submit the same public request but does not receive the link or choose a password. Learners should ask their parent to reset their learner password. Keep credentials private, use accurate account information and report suspected misuse. A parent's private nickname is not the same as a public learner nickname. Google parent sign-in is optional. Use explicit account linking for an existing family; matching an email does not authorise merging separate families.

3. Plans and access

Free supports one selected child and the latest three activity summaries. One-child Premium supports the selected child and the Premium features offered for that plan. Family Premium supports up to four child profiles under the same parent account. Membership determines family capacity; it is not a collection of freely transferable individual licences. For Free/one-child access, selection is locked. Buying Family is how additional children gain access. Removing a profile or letting one-child Premium expire does not create a right to keep transferring the selected slot between retained children. When Family expires, the parent can make one new selection for Free access, after which it locks again. Current subject/topic availability is shown on the site. Future subjects, Year 7+ content and native applications are not promised as part of today's purchase.

4. Paid plans, trials and upgrades

The Subscription, Trial, Cancellation and Refund Terms form part of these terms for paid purchases. Review the actual plan, payment adjustment, amount due, payment timing and renewal details before confirming. An eligible family may choose a three-day trial on an offered recurring plan. Payment details are required; the subscription charges automatically after the trial unless renewal is cancelled first. The one-off 30-day pass has no automatic renewal or trial.

New subscription upgrades use Google Play or Stripe calculations for unused paid time. Matching-period one-child to Family upgrades take effect after verified payment and keep the renewal date. Monthly-to-annual changes take effect after verified payment: Google charges the annual price and carries eligible unused value as time; Stripe applies unused-time credit to the new annual charge. Provider amounts and dates can differ. There is no custom GBP2 upgrade discount or GBP20 annual replacement price for new purchases. Upgrades have no new trial.

An active one-off pass may be replaced immediately by Premium annual, Family monthly or Family annual at the normal price, without a new trial. This requires separate express acknowledgement that the remaining pass time ends without credit or extra days after verified payment. Alternatively, keep the pass until expiry and request one optional email reminder to the registered parent address. A reminder does not authorise payment and can be cancelled. Previously accepted paid access, credits and future renewal schedules are preserved under their original terms. Former prepaid website upgrade periods may need to renew as regular subscriptions before a further native upgrade is offered. Optional reminders never authorise payment. Manage the purchase through its payment provider. A failed or pending upgrade does not remove existing valid paid access.

Parent-initiated in-term downgrades are not offered. Cancellation of automatic renewal keeps valid paid access until expiry; this does not limit statutory cancellation, refund or faulty-service rights. The subscription terms explain available changes and provider-specific payment treatment. Our child safety and safeguarding policy remains at https://smartkidszone.com/child-safety.html.

5. Results, leaderboards and fair use

We validate submitted answers and timing on the server. Scores, timing and leaderboards are practice indicators, not accredited results. Rankings compare the applicable topic, difficulty and period and use the rules shown on that page. Use a non-identifying, appropriate nickname. Do not impersonate someone, expose personal information, submit abusive names, automate score submissions, tamper with timers or attempt access to another family's records. We may investigate and arrange authorised technical correction or removal of invalid results and inappropriate public names while respecting lawful access and paid-service rights. We will explain material account restrictions where reasonable, with a way to contact support. Parents control leaderboard participation. A slow accurate result should still be understood as useful practice; speed is not a complete measure of ability.

Free displays the selected learner’s latest three retained activity summaries. Older retained activities are saved but hidden on Free. Premium can display retained history, subject to the existing retention periods and deletion requests. Upgrading cannot restore deleted records or recreate detailed answers that were not recorded on Free. Premium also unlocks extra questions; each topic shows its current Free and Premium question-pool sizes. Each quiz still has ten questions.

6. Content and permitted use

Use the supplied content for your family's own learning through the service. Do not redistribute question banks, resell accounts, scrape protected content or claim to own the site's branding/content. Rights in third-party materials remain with their owners; any required attributions still apply. Nothing here removes uses permitted by applicable law. Tell us if a question appears wrong or infringes rights, identifying the topic and question where possible.

7. Availability, changes and faults

We aim to provide a usable service and address reported errors. Maintenance, connectivity and provider failures can interrupt access. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or error-free educational content. This does not remove rights to a service supplied with reasonable care and skill or other remedies that applicable consumer law provides. Contact us if a fault materially prevents use; we will investigate and provide the remedy required in the circumstances. We may improve content and functions, but will not use a general change clause to take away a paid period or introduce materially disadvantageous contractual changes without appropriate notice and the rights required by law.

8. Profiles, deletion and records

Putting a child profile on hold prevents its use while retaining records; it does not automatically cancel subscription renewal. Deleting a child profile permanently removes associated live learning data after the displayed warning. It does not automatically entitle a subscription refund or transfer a locked slot. The parent dashboard also offers whole-family hold and deletion. Both stop automatic renewal and pause learning for all children. Hold preserves retained records and can be resumed, without extending paid time or restarting renewal. Deletion places the family on hold for a 30-day recovery period. The parent must explicitly cancel deletion before the displayed deadline to recover it; signing in alone does not cancel the request. After that deadline, recovery ends and routine cleanup removes the family account and live learning data. Necessary financial evidence and provider records may have separate retention. Neither action automatically triggers a refund of payments already made. Statutory cancellation and refund rights remain unaffected. Contact support to exercise those rights, ask about earlier erasure or request a copy of data. The Privacy Policy explains retention, including the distinction between Free basic records and retained Premium history.

9. Responsibility and consumer rights

We remain responsible for obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer rights. Nothing excludes liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or death/personal injury caused by negligence, where relevant. We do not use a blanket exclusion of all liability or a clause making a parent pay unlimited costs for everything a child does. We are responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law. Loss is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence or was contemplated when the contract was made. The service is supplied for personal family learning, not business use; we do not accept liability for business losses from that use, to the extent the law permits. These terms do not impose a general monetary cap on consumer claims or reduce mandatory remedies for faulty digital content.

10. Law, overseas users and disputes

These terms are intended to be governed by the law of England and Wales, without removing mandatory consumer protections that apply where a customer normally lives. Court/jurisdiction rights under applicable law are preserved. The service is UK-curriculum focused but can be accessed from other countries. Availability alone does not assert compliance with every country's child-privacy, tax or consumer requirements. Contact us with a complaint so we can try to resolve it. You retain the right to seek an applicable external or legal remedy.

Apple TestFlight sandbox purchases

Apple purchasing is currently an approved-account TestFlight sandbox pilot, not public production billing. Sandbox purchases do not take real money, and test renewal periods are accelerated. Apple supplies local prices, trial eligibility, confirmation and renewal information. The five configured products are one-child Premium monthly, Premium annual, the non-renewing 30-day pass, and four-child Family monthly and annual. Introductory trials are subject to both Apple eligibility and the family's SKZ access history; upgrades do not get a new trial.

Premium-to-Family upgrades take effect after Apple verifies the upgrade. Apple charges the new plan and calculates any proportionate refund of the previous subscription. A monthly-to-annual change at the same access level begins at the next renewal, as shown by Apple. This differs from Google Play and Stripe. There is no custom upgrade discount or manually calculated credit.

An active Apple 30-day pass may be replaced by Premium annual, Family monthly or Family annual at the full subscription price, without another trial. A separate unticked checkbox requires acknowledgement that the remaining pass time ends after verified purchase without credit, extra days or an automatic refund. Cancelled, failed or pending purchases leave valid existing access unchanged. For one-child monthly, wait for pass expiry. Statutory rights are unaffected.

Manage Apple subscriptions in the iPhone app or Apple Account subscription settings, where Apple also offers changes for the next renewal, including downgrades. SKZ's own purchase screen offers upgrades rather than downgrade buttons. Cancel renewal before a trial ends to avoid its first charge. Stopping renewal retains valid access until expiry. Apple renewal cannot be stopped by SKZ: cancel in Apple settings and refresh before holding or deleting the family account. Do not purchase a second membership through another provider.

The server verifies Apple signatures, app, environment and family ownership before updating access. Restore uses the original SKZ family account. The pass lasts 30 days from Apple's verified purchase date; it does not renew. Apple payment confirmations and refund processes are separate from SKZ account deletion. Mandatory cancellation and faulty-service rights remain unaffected.
