Privacy for learners
You can try learning as a guest without making an account. If you want your work saved, ask a parent or guardian to help. Unsaved guest work is temporary.
Your parent can make a learner account for you. We use your nickname, username, school year and the answers/results from your practice to make learning work. Choose a nickname that does not tell other people your real name, school or address. You can choose an avatar if you want one. You do not need your own email address.
Your parent can see your learning results. People who run Smart Kids Zone may need to look at account information to help or keep the service safe. The admin dashboard can look at permitted records but cannot change your family membership or set your password. We keep a protected value to check your password, not a readable copy of it. Keep your password private and ask your parent to reset it if you forget it. Do not put passwords in Contact Us.
If your parent allows leaderboard participation and your membership permits it, other eligible signed-in learners can see your nickname, score and time. Times-table rankings are Free; other subject rankings require Premium. These learners can be from other families. They do not see your parent's email address or where you sign in. Your parent can turn participation off.
Your parent can see recent sign-in times and devices. They can also choose to show an APPROXIMATE city or region from the internet connection. This setting is off to start with. If it is on, we tell you in your Learner area. It does not use GPS or show a map of where you go. The estimate can be wrong, especially on mobile networks or VPNs. Sign-in history is kept for 30 days and is not public.
There are no chat messages between learners in this version. We do not sell your information or use your quiz answers to make advertising profiles. An adult deals with payments. You should not enter card details.
If something worries you, tell a trusted adult. You or your parent can use the Contact Us page to ask about your information, correct something or request deletion. A fuller Privacy Policy explains the details in words for adults. Your parent can pause the whole family account. If they ask to delete the family account, it is paused for 30 days so they can change their mind. After that, the family learning accounts and saved work are permanently removed. Learning here helps you practise and remember; it does not replace school.
We count how often quizzes are started and finished to help improve the site. For guest quizzes, we may estimate the country from the internet connection and keep country totals. This does not use GPS or show a child's location on a map.
On the website or in the current phone app previews, your saved work uses the same family account. Your parent and the people running the service can see whether a sign-in came from the iPhone app, Android app or a web browser when that information is available. The service also counts unsuccessful password sign-ins without keeping the password or name typed into that count.
If something worries you, stop and tell a trusted adult. Your parent can use Contact us to report a problem. There is a Child safety and safeguarding page explaining more.
Times-table competitions and rankings
You can practise both times-table games for Free. Your parent decides whether your nickname can appear in rankings. You can keep practising if they say no. Never use your real name, school or address as your nickname.
A ranked game lasts one minute. Your latest ten ranked games decide your score. Leaving a ranked game early still counts. Practice games do not change your rank. Your competition year stays fixed, and we compare computer players separately from phone and tablet players.
We estimate your country from the internet connection so you can see a country rank and a worldwide rank. This does not use GPS or collect your city or region for the competition. Sometimes the estimate is wrong. IP Geolocation by DB-IP.
Your parent can see your retained rounds. Free shows your latest three competition rounds, and Premium can show up to one hundred. We keep round summaries with your account, but remove individual submitted-answer details after seven days and old question lists after one day through scheduled cleanup. Deleting your learner account removes its competition records too.
Rankings are for practice and fun. They do not measure your worth. You can stop and take a break, and there is no chat between players. Tell a trusted adult if anything worries you.
Your parent chooses your school year in Manage child. This sets your default learning year and leaderboard group. You can practise other years without changing that group. If your parent confirms a school-year change, all your leaderboard results start fresh and any active competition round ends. Saved learning and competition history remain subject to the usual history limits. Ten new eligible attempts are needed in each ranking category.
Maths Champions uses the same one-minute competition, parent permission, year group, device, country and rolling last-ten ranking rules. It has a separate leaderboard and mixes mental maths skills for the parent-selected school year. Free shows the latest three competition rounds; Premium shows up to one hundred retained rounds. No additional personal information is collected for Maths Champions.
Spelling Bee
Spelling Bee and its leaderboard are Free. Words and meaning hints use saved British English recordings, with a male or female voice chosen before a round. The microphone is not used and children’s voices are not recorded. No child information is sent to Google Text-to-Speech during play. The same parent permission, school year, device and country rankings, latest-ten scoring and history limits apply. Submitted spellings are checked on the server; a hash used to handle retries and answer feedback are removed with competition answer details after seven days. Premium reveals the correct spelling after an incorrect answer; it does not change points or ranking eligibility.
Guest competition samples
Guest practice uses a separate small set of spelling and maths samples. No sign-in, child nickname, country estimate or leaderboard entry is needed. Guest typed answers, scores and timers are processed in the browser and are not sent to the account database. Results are not saved: they clear when finishing, starting another round, refreshing or closing the page. Sample questions and saved audio are downloaded as ordinary website files; usual hosting request logs and browser caching may apply. No microphone or live voice-generation service is used. A parent can create a Free account for more questions, saved progress and rankings with parent permission.
Times Table Extra rounds now last three minutes; other competition rounds last one minute. New Extra rankings use three-minute results only, preserving earlier personal history. Unfinished registered practice rounds can be quit without saving; ranked rounds still count if ended early. Spelling Bee offers in-page letter buttons to avoid phone spelling suggestions. Guest times-table rounds contain at most twenty questions. Guest result-clearing actions ask for confirmation; browser warnings on refresh or leaving depend on device support.
