SMART KIDS ZONE

Subscriptions, trials and cancellations

Smart Kids Zone is operated under ZaQuest Ventures. Support: admin@smartkidszone.com.

1. Plans and prices

Prices are in GBP. ZaQuest Ventures is not VAT registered. Review the total payable at checkout before confirming a purchase. The parent review step has unticked agreement boxes for the applicable terms, immediate access and recurring charges where relevant. A pending checkout is not a completed contract or payment. After Stripe verifies the trial or payment, we queue a confirmation email to the registered parent address with the plan, trial or paid period, charges, renewal terms and links to the agreed terms. The website confirmation email contains no attachments. We send one contract summary when a trial or purchase starts, and a new summary for a paid upgrade. We do not send an additional routine renewal email. If the trial summary was already created, we do not add a second website summary at the first paid charge. Stripe payment receipts and any required notices are separate. Delivery is normally attempted by the existing minute-by-minute email process; check spam or Contact us if a confirmation does not arrive. Any future price change requires proper advance information; it does not rewrite an existing paid period after the fact.

2. What Premium includes

Access to the available full question bank, saved Premium learning history, detailed progress/personal-best features and permitted leaderboard participation, subject to the plan capacity and parent permissions. The actual available topics are shown on the website. Future expansion or native apps are not included as guaranteed deliverables. Free learning remains available as described.

Free displays the selected learner’s latest three retained activity summaries. Older retained activities are saved but hidden on Free. Premium can display retained history, subject to the existing retention periods and deletion requests. Upgrading cannot restore deleted records or recreate detailed answers that were not recorded on Free. Premium also unlocks extra questions; each topic shows its current Free and Premium question-pool sizes. Each quiz still has ten questions.

3. Three-day trial

A qualifying family may start one trial on an offered recurring plan, with payment details provided. A family with previous membership/trial use may not qualify: the current offer requires no previous membership and no previous trial on that family account. The site displays eligibility. The selected plan's child capacity applies during the trial. The trial lasts 3 days, with its exact end and first charge time shown before the parent agrees. The subscription then charges and renews at the chosen monthly/yearly rate unless cancelled in time. To avoid the first charge, stop renewal through Manage payments before that stated charge time. Remaining trial access continues to its end. The £5 one-off pass does not have this recurring-plan trial. A trial is not an extra charge. The trial does NOT shorten or replace a statutory cooling-off or refund right.

4. Payments and access

Only the parent/guardian enters a payment agreement. Third-party providers handle payments through Stripe, with Google Pay and Apple Pay where offered. We do not store card numbers, card expiry dates, security codes, bank-account details or payment-wallet credentials. We retain limited billing references, amounts and status records to verify membership and meet accounting obligations. Available methods can differ by country, currency and recurring-payment approval. We do not promise every method on every plan. The provider handles payment details; membership updates follow verified server-side payment/subscription confirmation. Starting checkout or returning from it is not proof that payment succeeded. Your account shows the verified entitlement and its end date. Administrator dashboard users cannot manually award or change membership. Authorised payment-provider events determine paid access. Contact support if payment succeeded but access has not updated.

5. Upgrades and payment timing

New upgrade purchases use payment-provider calculations, rather than a fixed Smart Kids Zone discount or a manual conversion of unused value into extra days. The former GBP2 upgrade discount and GBP20 Family annual offer are not selected for new checkouts under these rules. Normal plan prices and eligible new-family trials are unchanged. An upgrade does not include another free trial.

The immediate upgrade choices are: Premium monthly to Family monthly; Premium annual to Family annual; Premium monthly to Premium annual; and Family monthly to Family annual. Annual-to-monthly and Family-to-one-child changes are not offered as in-term app upgrades. Stopping renewal remains available, with valid paid access continuing until expiry. Other packages can be chosen after expiry.

Matching-period one-child to Family upgrades: Google Play calculates and charges the price difference for the remaining paid billing period. Family access starts after verified payment, and the renewal date stays the same. On the website, Stripe calculates the corresponding unused-time credit and remaining-period charge. The review shows Stripe's amount due and normal Family renewal price. There is no fixed GBP2 deduction and no GBP20 annual replacement charge.

Monthly-to-annual changes: Google Play charges the normal annual price immediately and carries eligible unused monthly value forward as time, confirming the renewal date. On the website, Stripe applies its own unused-time credit against the new annual charge and starts a new annual billing period after successful payment. Amounts and renewal dates can therefore differ between payment providers. We do not promise identical cash charges or time credit across the website and app.

Before confirmation, review the new plan, provider payment adjustment, amount due and future renewal terms. Google Play displays its final charge and renewal terms in its payment screen; the app does not invent an exact prorated amount. Stripe supplies the website invoice preview. A preview is time limited and may need refreshing if your account or payment state changes. Provider currency, regional pricing and applicable tax can affect store prices. A minimum charge, unpaid invoice or pending transaction may prevent an immediate upgrade. New access follows verified successful payment, not just opening checkout. A failed, cancelled or pending payment does not remove existing valid paid access.

The GBP5 30-day pass is a one-time purchase, not a renewable or prepaid Google subscription. It expires automatically. While it is active, you may choose Premium annual, Family monthly or Family annual at the normal subscription price. The new subscription starts after verified successful payment, without another trial. The remaining pass time then ends. Its unused value is not credited, automatically refunded or added as extra days. A separate unticked checkbox requires your express acknowledgement before starting payment. A cancelled, failed or pending purchase leaves valid pass access in place.

You may instead keep your pass until expiry and request an email reminder for your chosen subscription. This preserves the remaining pass access. No email is sent when the reminder is saved: we confirm the request on screen, then check membership before attempting one reminder to the registered parent address after expiry. You can cancel the reminder. Buying a subscription makes the requested pass-expiry reminder unnecessary and it is cancelled. One reminder is stored per family; changing it replaces the previous request and is rate limited. No plan, price, availability, automatic purchase or payment is reserved by a reminder. Statutory cancellation, refund and faulty-service rights remain unaffected.

Previously accepted and paid plans, agreed credits, and future renewal schedules remain governed by their original purchase terms. This change does not cancel or shorten them. An already-open, approved provider checkout can still be reconciled under the terms accepted for it. An old unpaid website quote must be refreshed before a new payment is started. For website access bought using the former prepaid upgrade system, further native upgrades become available after that prepaid period renews as a regular Stripe subscription. If renewal is stopped, another package can be chosen after expiry. Contact support if an existing payment or entitlement needs reconciliation; do not pay twice.

Manage a purchase through the provider that took payment. A Google Play subscription is managed in Google Play, not the Google Pay wallet. A one-off pass has no automatic renewal to cancel. Optional availability reminders do not reserve a price, guarantee an upgrade or authorise any payment. Apple purchases are available only in the approved TestFlight sandbox pilot. Statutory cancellation, refund and faulty-service rights remain unaffected.

6. Stop renewal, pause or delete: different actions

Use Manage payments in the parent account to stop automatic renewal. This stops future renewal payments; paid access normally continues until the current verified period ends. For a trial it continues until the trial ends. A one-off pass expires after its 30-day entitlement and does not need renewal cancellation. Cancelling a direct debit/payment method alone can leave an unresolved account or payment-provider record; use the subscription cancellation facility too. Contact admin@smartkidszone.com if it cannot be used, clearly stating that you want renewal stopped. Do not send passwords or full card details. Putting a child on hold, deleting a child profile, or not using the service does not itself stop renewal. No parent-initiated in-term downgrade is offered. That restriction does not prevent cancellation or any remedy required by law. The separate WHOLE-FAMILY hold or deletion options in the parent dashboard stop renewal and pause all children's learning. Remaining paid time is not extended. A deletion request has a 30-day recovery period before permanent account deletion; a parent can explicitly cancel the request before its deadline. Putting the whole family on hold or requesting deletion does not automatically refund earlier payments. Statutory cancellation and refund rights still apply. Resuming a held account does not automatically restart subscription renewal.

7. Your 14-day cancellation rights and refunds

For online purchases, the usual statutory cancellation period ends 14 days after the day the contract is made, unless an applicable exception has lawfully taken effect. This can apply to our monthly plans, annual plans and the one-off £5 30-day pass. Paying once, paying monthly or calling a purchase PAYG does not, by itself, remove that right. Our 30-day pass buys timed learning access; it is not a mobile-phone top-up or a balance of unused credit.

The relevant starting point is the contract date, which is not necessarily the first paid charge. Where the contract is made when a trial is accepted, the three-day trial is part of that timeline; it does not replace or restart the statutory period. A recurring payment does not automatically mean that a new 14-day period begins every month. Any additional cancellation rights required by applicable law remain available.

Starting access and using the service

Our current checkout asks you to request immediate access. It does not ask for a blanket waiver of the 14-day digital-content cancellation right. Ticking the immediate-access box is not, by itself, a loss of statutory cancellation rights. If you ask for a service to start within the cancellation period, you can normally still cancel during that period. A lawful proportionate charge for service already supplied is possible only where the required prior information and express request to start were obtained. Any deduction must be justified; it is not an automatic charge for opening the website or completing quizzes. The right to cancel a service can end after full performance only where the applicable express-consent and acknowledgement conditions are satisfied.

Digital content has different rules

For digital content supplied without a physical medium, the cancellation right can end when supply begins if the required prior express consent to immediate supply and acknowledgement of losing the right were obtained, and the required contract confirmation was supplied. Merely signing in, using a quiz or ticking a general terms checkbox is not, by itself, that specific acknowledgement. We will not treat your cancellation right as lost without the applicable conditions having been met. This policy does not itself collect an early-start request or a digital-content waiver.

How to cancel under a statutory right

Stopping automatic renewal prevents future renewal charges. To cancel the contract under a cooling-off right, send a clear statement to admin@smartkidszone.com or use Contact us, identifying the plan/account where possible. You do not have to give a reason. Sending your cancellation notice before the applicable deadline is sufficient. You may use the model form below, but the form, a transaction reference and particular wording are not compulsory. Do not send passwords or full card details.

Where a refund is due following statutory cancellation, we will reimburse you without undue delay and within 14 days of being informed of the cancellation, subject to the applicable rules. We use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, without a refund fee. We explain any lawful deduction and its calculation. Your payment provider may take additional time to display the refund. Other statutory remedies follow their applicable deadlines.

We offer no additional voluntary money-back guarantee. This does not limit rights concerning faulty, misdescribed or improperly supplied services/digital content, or any other mandatory right. Holding/deleting an account does not automatically issue a refund, and does not take away these statutory rights.

8. Expiry and data

Premium access ends at expiry unless a new valid entitlement exists. Free basic access continues for the locked selected child under a one-child plan, provided the family account is active. After Family expires, the parent may select one child once for Free, then that choice locks. Other children cannot keep rotating through the same Free slot. Premium history is retained for the entitlement-linked period described in the Privacy Policy, normally up to a year after that entitlement ends, but is not available as a Premium report while the account lacks Premium access. Basic Free results have different retention. Deleting a child removes its associated live learning data; do not assume a later payment restores deleted data.

9. Cancellation form for the learning service

Apple TestFlight sandbox purchases

Apple purchasing is currently an approved-account TestFlight sandbox pilot, not public production billing. Sandbox purchases do not take real money, and test renewal periods are accelerated. Apple supplies local prices, trial eligibility, confirmation and renewal information. The five configured products are one-child Premium monthly, Premium annual, the non-renewing 30-day pass, and four-child Family monthly and annual. Introductory trials are subject to both Apple eligibility and the family's SKZ access history; upgrades do not get a new trial.

Premium-to-Family upgrades take effect after Apple verifies the upgrade. Apple charges the new plan and calculates any proportionate refund of the previous subscription. A monthly-to-annual change at the same access level begins at the next renewal, as shown by Apple. This differs from Google Play and Stripe. There is no custom upgrade discount or manually calculated credit.

An active Apple 30-day pass may be replaced by Premium annual, Family monthly or Family annual at the full subscription price, without another trial. A separate unticked checkbox requires acknowledgement that the remaining pass time ends after verified purchase without credit, extra days or an automatic refund. Cancelled, failed or pending purchases leave valid existing access unchanged. For one-child monthly, wait for pass expiry. Statutory rights are unaffected.

Manage Apple subscriptions in the iPhone app or Apple Account subscription settings, where Apple also offers changes for the next renewal, including downgrades. SKZ's own purchase screen offers upgrades rather than downgrade buttons. Cancel renewal before a trial ends to avoid its first charge. Stopping renewal retains valid access until expiry. Apple renewal cannot be stopped by SKZ: cancel in Apple settings and refresh before holding or deleting the family account. Do not purchase a second membership through another provider.

The server verifies Apple signatures, app, environment and family ownership before updating access. Restore uses the original SKZ family account. The pass lasts 30 days from Apple's verified purchase date; it does not renew. Apple payment confirmations and refund processes are separate from SKZ account deletion. Mandatory cancellation and faulty-service rights remain unaffected.
