Child safety and safeguarding
1. Who we are and what this covers
Smart Kids Zone is operated under ZaQuest Ventures. Privacy and support contact: admin@smartkidszone.com. This policy covers the learning website and the current Android and iPhone online previews. It describes the present service; it does not promise features that have not been built. Smart Kids Zone supports learning and does not replace school teaching, parental care or emergency help.
2. Learning and parent controls
Guests can try available practice without an account. A parent or guardian manages the family account, learner profiles and any paid membership. Learners use their own usernames and passwords without needing separate email addresses. Children should not share their passwords. Parents manage learner password resets and can use the family controls to hold or request deletion of the family account. Passwords and financial information should never be included in a support message. Billing and account-management functions require parent access. Keep the parent password private and sign out on shared devices. These controls are account permissions; they do not verify an adult's age or prevent a child using an adult's already signed-in device.
3. Privacy and information visible to others
Choose learner nicknames that do not reveal a real name, school, address or contact details. Use the supplied optional avatars rather than personal photographs. There is no learner-to-learner chat or private messaging in the current service. Eligible leaderboard participation requires parent permission. The displayed information is the nickname, score, time and rank. Other eligible learners may see it; parent email addresses, learner usernames, internal IDs and sign-in locations are not leaderboard information. Parents can withdraw leaderboard permission. Report an identifying or inappropriate nickname through Contact us. Parents can see their children's results and recent sign-ins. The platform source may identify the iPhone app, Android app, a web browser or an unknown client. Approximate sign-in city/region estimates are off by default and can be enabled by the parent. The learner area explains this setting. No GPS permission or continuous location tracking is used by this feature. Network and VPN estimates can be wrong.
4. Appropriate learning and wellbeing
The service is intended for primary learning and general 11+ preparation. Difficulty can be chosen for each activity. Scores, timing and rankings are practice feedback, not a measure of a child's value or a guarantee of an examination result. Learners can stop and take a break. Report upsetting material, factual errors or explanations that are unsuitable for the stated year group. The current service does not include public learner posts, live competitions with chat, open-ended AI conversations or personal-photo uploads. New features will need a separate safety and privacy review before release.
5. Reporting a concern
Use Contact us or email admin@smartkidszone.com for a concern about a nickname, content, privacy, account access or a child's experience of the service. State the relevant page/topic, approximate time and a short description. Include a question reference if available. Send only the information needed; avoid unnecessary identifying information about a child. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or private images of children. If a child feels worried, they should stop using the activity and tell a trusted adult. This contact service is not live moderation, an emergency service or monitored continuously. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service directly.
6. How concerns are handled
We review reports, assess the concern and use proportionate action. Depending on the issue, this can include checking relevant records, correcting content through authorised maintenance, asking a parent to change a nickname, withdrawing affected content or restricting access where necessary. The ordinary administrator dashboard is read-only: it does not provide password access or allow account, membership or question-bank changes. We limit access to reports and relevant evidence to those who need it. Information may need to be shared with appropriate authorities where there is a legal requirement or a justified safeguarding need. We cannot promise absolute confidentiality, an immediate reply or a particular outcome. Report handling and any necessary evidence retention follow the privacy notice and the circumstances of the concern.
7. Responsibilities and review
The operator is responsible for reviewing concerns and maintaining these safeguards. Parents manage family access, choose safe nicknames and help children report problems. Learners should use the service respectfully and avoid sharing identifying information in nicknames or messages to support. We review this policy when features, data use or identified risks change. The privacy policy and learner-friendly privacy explanation give more detail about information, retention and rights. Publishing this policy is one part of safeguarding; it is not a certification of compliance or a substitute for reviewing how the service actually operates.
Times-table competitions and rankings
Maths Champions, Times Table Champion and Times Table Extra are Free, including their leaderboards. Ranked play requires parent permission to display a learner nickname. Rankings use a fixed competition year, Computer or Mobile/tablet category, and the latest ten eligible ranked attempts. Lower-year subject quizzes do not qualify. Country rankings use a country code estimated locally from the network IP; city, region, GPS and nationality are not collected for this feature. A country estimate can be wrong. Parents can withdraw display permission at any time. Learning access is unaffected.
Practice is separate from ranked play. A started ranked round counts even if abandoned. We retain competition round summaries and the minimal ranking data with the learner account; Free displays the latest three competition rounds and Premium displays up to one hundred retained rounds. Submitted-answer details are removed after seven days and completed question decks after one day by the scheduled cleanup. Account deletion removes associated competition records. No child chat, school names, contact details or public profiles are added. Device categorisation is best-effort; physical-keyboard attempts belong in Computer. IP Geolocation by DB-IP.
Your parent chooses your school year in Manage child. This sets your default learning year and leaderboard group. You can practise other years without changing that group. If your parent confirms a school-year change, all your leaderboard results start fresh and any active competition round ends. Saved learning and competition history remain subject to the usual history limits. Ten new eligible attempts are needed in each ranking category.
Maths Champions uses the same one-minute competition, parent permission, year group, device, country and rolling last-ten ranking rules. It has a separate leaderboard and mixes mental maths skills for the parent-selected school year. Free shows the latest three competition rounds; Premium shows up to one hundred retained rounds. No additional personal information is collected for Maths Champions.
Spelling Bee
Spelling Bee and its leaderboard are Free. Words and meaning hints use saved British English recordings, with a male or female voice chosen before a round. The microphone is not used and children’s voices are not recorded. No child information is sent to Google Text-to-Speech during play. The same parent permission, school year, device and country rankings, latest-ten scoring and history limits apply. Submitted spellings are checked on the server; a hash used to handle retries and answer feedback are removed with competition answer details after seven days. Premium reveals the correct spelling after an incorrect answer; it does not change points or ranking eligibility.
Guest competition samples
Guest practice uses a separate small set of spelling and maths samples. No sign-in, child nickname, country estimate or leaderboard entry is needed. Guest typed answers, scores and timers are processed in the browser and are not sent to the account database. Results are not saved: they clear when finishing, starting another round, refreshing or closing the page. Sample questions and saved audio are downloaded as ordinary website files; usual hosting request logs and browser caching may apply. No microphone or live voice-generation service is used. A parent can create a Free account for more questions, saved progress and rankings with parent permission.
Times Table Extra rounds now last three minutes; other competition rounds last one minute. New Extra rankings use three-minute results only, preserving earlier personal history. Unfinished registered practice rounds can be quit without saving; ranked rounds still count if ended early. Spelling Bee offers in-page letter buttons to avoid phone spelling suggestions. Guest times-table rounds contain at most twenty questions. Guest result-clearing actions ask for confirmation; browser warnings on refresh or leaving depend on device support.
